As the number of people using humyo grows so too does the need to expand our storage capacity!

Our tech gurus Nick and Rob have just finished adding additional storage to the humyo Data Centre within the old Bank of England Vault in Manchester. After practically living within its blast proof walls for the last few days, Rob reminds us that “other online storage companies have ‘downtime’. humyo is designed to never lose service, particularly during maintenance work.“.

Our recent upgrade means that humyo has enough storage capacity to save about 7 billion photos! Think about it, that’s a photograph of every single person on Earth!

Accidentally deleted half of your dissertation? Replaced photos of your wedding with photos of your last night out?

Now users of humyo Free can restore, download or remove previous versions of files which you have edited, with historic file versions kept for up to 30 days. Premium and Workspace users continue to have unlimited version history.

All in all it’s been a good week for protecting your files. In line with industry best practices we have recently updated our authentication protocol offering increased protection against “man in the middle” attacks.

For those of you lucky enough to grasp the ever increasing depths to which mobile technology ventures, our mobile site now features a ‘remember me’ function. Which will save your fingers from any risk of R.L.I (repetitive log-in injury).

Overall, the new authentication protocol improves security and lays the groundwork for future integration with other authentication systems (such as OpenID, Facebook Connect).

You may notice that next time you log into the humyo web-based file manager that things look a little different. In our continuing effort to make the humyo experience as pleasant as possible for you, the user, we’ve had a long hard look through the range of icons that we use. As of today we have refreshed the entire set, adding our own style to each and every one.

You may also notice that we are supporting the ‘Share Icon Project‘. The idea of the project being to support a single standard visual representation of the concept of sharing, be it with services like Twitter or Facebook, or with your friends directly through humyo. By supporting the share icon project we hope to help make this symbol synonymous with the idea of sharing, both on humyo and throughout the internet.

Wir haben einige Änderungen an unseren WorkSpace Accounts vorgenommen. Snapshots werden vom neuen (Datei) Versionsverlauf ersetzt und ermöglicht es Ihnen, ganz einfach beliebig viele alte Versionen Ihrer Dateien anzuschauen und wenn gewünscht wiederherzustellen bzw. herunterzuladen.
Dieses Feature können Sie ganz einfach über den Datei Manager erreichen und bedienen.
Klicken Sie einfach mit der rechten Maustaste auf die gewünschte Datei und schon können Sie die alten Versionen
wiederherstellen. Alle alten gespeicherten Versionen Ihrer Dateien, werden von Ihrem Speicherplatz Volumen abgezogen.

The holiday season is upon us once again and if you’re like me, you’ll be seeing lots of long lost friends and relatives over the next few days.

This will be a chance to snag lots of new photos and a fair bit of video footage too, but after the snow has settled and everyone heads back home wouldn’t it be nice to be able to let everyone view them, or even better, gather everyone’s into one place for the whole family to access?

Well you can do this and so much more with humyo.com and I’ll step you through what I’ll be doing this evening to make sure all the family have access to all our festive photos and videos.

Before we start make sure your logged into your humyo.com account, if you don’t have one you can create one now for free and then follow the steps listed below.

Datei- Versionsverwaltung
Als humyo Premium und Workspace Kunde erhalten Sie ab jetzt die Möglichkeit einer Datei- Versionsverwaltung. Wenn eine Datei geändert wird, werden die bisherigen Versionen abgespeichert. Diese können via Web UI aufgelistet, gelöscht, wiederhergestellt und runtergeladen werden.
Alle Bearbeitungen werden dargestellt, egal ob sie via Web UI oder über SmartDrive erfolgt sind.

Abonnement – Upgrade oder Downgrade
Premium User können nun auch selbstständig bestimmen, ob Sie Speicherplatz hinzufügen oder löschen möchten.
Workspace User haben die Möglichkeit weitere Benutzer und Speicherplatz hinzuzufügen oder zu löschen.
Wenn Sie diese Upgrade- Möglichkeit(en) in Anspruch nehmen, erhalten Sie eine Rechnung für die verbleibende Zeit Ihres Abrechnungszeitraumes (jährlich oder monatlich)- Ein Downgrade wird nicht von uns verrechnet!

Sie können ab jetzt auch von der monatlichen auf die jährlichen Zahlung wechseln, selbst wenn noch eine Rechnung offen ist. Ihr Guthaben wird dann entsprechend Ihrer Umstellung verrechnet.

Account löschen
Falls Sie unser Service nicht mehr in Anspruch nehmen möchten, können Sie Ihren Account eigenständig löschen und sind so nicht mehr auf den Support angewiesen.

…Ein weiterer Nutzen des Papierkorbs
Wenn eine Datei von einer verschobenen oder kopierten Datei (z.B. “Einsetzen”) überschrieben wird, wird die überschriebene Datei nicht gelöscht sondern in den Papierkorb verschoben.
